The Academic Council is the principal body vested with the responsibility of implementing and monitoring all the academic programmes. The Council is headed by the Vice-Chancellor as the Chairperson and consists of Deans, Director of Research, Director of Extension, University Heads of Departments and Professors as Members. In addition, the Council consists of ten academicians representing different faculties nominated by the Vice-Chancellor and one representative of the Board of Management. The Council normally meets once in six months.
The four functional faculties of the University viz., Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Home Science and Postgraduate Studies, are guided by the independent Faculty Boards, which are convened to meet as and when academic programmes of the concerned faculties need discussion and decision. The Faculty Boards are headed by the respective Deans. All issues concerned with academic matters such as formulation of course curricula, syllabi, examinations, student evaluation procedures and such other matters are first tabled for discussion in the respective Faculty Boards, before referring to the Academic Council for final decision.
