The ANGRAU Library System is having 13 Libraries in its fold including the University Library located at the Head-Quarters in Lam, Guntur. All the Libraries of ANGRAU function under the overall supervision of the University Librarian. The Regional Libraries and the College Libraries are run by the Library Professors (LIS) under the administrative control of the Associate Deans in their respective Colleges. The main motto of the Libraries is to accomplish its task of reaching to wider user community, comprising of teachers, scientists, extension specialists and students. All the libraries hold rich collections of Books, Periodicals, Back-Volumes and Reports etc., in Agriculture and allied sciences. Apart from print resources the e-Resources are being made available through online. The University Library also focuses on electronic delivery of information and library e-Resources accessible through web and local area network.

OBJECTIVES

To collect, maintain and make accessible all books and journals of Agriculture and allied subjects to the Scientific and Students community.

To procure, consolidate and make accessible all types of documents in the principal areas of Agriculture and associate subjects of importance to the University.

To maintain resource house of information on the continuing research and development in Agriculture and allied areas in the University.

To interact with the associated institutes in the country for effective e-resource sharing and document delivery service.

To participate in Agricultural Library and Information Networking at the Regional and National level.

SECTIONS

Books and Periodicals : All the ANGRAU Libraries have around 1,05,000 volumes of Books in Agriculture and allied disciplines which includes Textbooks, Reference Books, Book Bank Scheme collection, Competitive Examination Books, Advances etc. The libraries are updating the book collection with latest editions of volumes regularly.

Journals : The librariesare subscribes/renewed to around 191 Indian and 43 Foreign Journals. It has rich collection of Back-Volumes bounded and made available for reference of the users.

Book Bank Scheme : The ANGRAU libraries are providing important books under special Book Bank Scheme supplied by the concerned Social Welfare Departments for the benefit of the SC, ST and BC students. A Special text-book collection has been built up at each campus.

Reference Section : The reference section of the library has reference books which are meant to provide quick and accessible information on any particular topic. Reference books include topics that are intended to guide researchers in their studies. The copy of the books recommended by faculty and students are kept for reference purpose. Reference material is not meant for issue outside.

Competitive Examination Cell : A separate competitive examination cell has been established at all the libraries for the benefit of those students who are appearing for various competitive examinations for the better placement position and higher studies. This section provides the useful material required for the aspirants of ARS, ICAR-JRF/NET, UPSC, APPSC, GMAT, TOEFL, GRE, IELTS,BSRB Bank Exams and all other competitive examinations.

Newspaper Section : The Libraries subscribes to important magazines i.e. Weekly, Fortnightly, Monthly etc which covers the competitive examination syllabus of various examinations, also subscribes to over 10 daily Newspapers in Telugu and English languages.

LIBRARY SERVICES

Reprographic Services : The photocopying, printing, scanning facilities have been provided at all campuses for the benefit of students.

Exchange of University Publications : The University Library distributes fifty copies of the “ANGRAU Journal of Research” to various National and International institutes. On exchange, the University Library receives foreign and Indian publications.

Library Publications : The ANGRAU University Library is bringing out every year ANGRAU Post Graduate Thesis Abstracts regularly for the benefit of Teachers, Scientists, Extension Specialists and Students.

Digital Library : Digital library infrastructure facilities viz., computers with the latest configuration, internet facility, online printers, scanners, etc., are fully strengthened in the libraries to utilize the electronic resources for the improvement of academic and research programmes. All libraries updated with KOHA Library Management Software. Internet facility is provided in all the libraries.RFID Technology of Document Identification and Library Security System has been implemented for the library functions and services.

e-RESOURCES

The ANGRAU University Library has subscribed e-Resources / Online Resources to provide the latest information to the teachers, scientists, extension specialists and students to meet their research and educational information needs.

Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture (CeRA) : In addition to its own collections, the University Library has access to Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture (CeRA), an online journal consortium funded under NAIP of ICAR. CeRA provides access to about 2,900+ online journals covering various disciplines of agricultural sciences and allied sciences.

Statistical Database :Indiastat.com, Economic and Political Weekly Research Foundation and other open access databases are available to authentic storehouse for socio-economic statistics about India and International. It provides statistical data, current happenings with a statistical approach and articles from scholars on subjects of social and economic importance, etc.

e-Books : Collection of about 949 e-Books at present and all these e-books are accessible via the e-book gateway ofremote access which is available through the internet connecting all the libraries. The e-Book gateway also provides web links to major e-book gateways which are providing access to thousands of full-text e-books covering various disciplines including Agriculture and allied sciences.

e-Journals : In the electronic age, information-seeking process is made so much easier and quicker by introduction of e-journals and digital library. Falling in line with modern electronic era, the University Library has also activated on-line access to about 80 Indian and foreign journals. A list of Open Access e-Journal Portals has also been compiled by the Library and web links established to those portals to ensure easy access to the invaluable journal literature, this will improve the quality of research and save lot of precious time of the students, teachers and researchers.

J-Gate Agriculture and Biological Sciences : J-Gate is an electronic gateway to global e-journal literature. It provides seamless access to journal articles available online offered by many Publishers. It presently has a massive database of journal literature, indexed from 58,803 e-journals with links to full text at publisher sites.

IDEAL : KrishiKosh is an Institutional Repository under National Agricultural Research and Education System (NARES). The repository of knowledge in agriculture and allied sciences, having collection of old and valuable theses, books, records and various documents spread all over the country in different libraries of Research Institutions and State Agricultural Universities (SAUs).ANGRAU is implementing ICAR Open Access Policy and uploading regularly in the KrishiKosh Repository after embargo period of one year from 2014 onwards

KrishiKosh : IDEAL is the Union Catalogue, holdings of 154 libraries of the ICAR Institutes, Deemed Universities and SAUs. It has been created with the collaboration of ICAR. The ANGRAU is also a member in IDEAL Platform.

DELNET : Developing Library Network (DELNET) provides access to more than 1.75 crore bibliographic records of books, journals, articles and CD’s etc. The Inter Library Loan/document Delivery Service is one of the most popular services of this database and promotes resource sharing among the Member-Libraries by collecting, storing and disseminating information by offering networking services to users.

Remote Login Service : The ANGRAU University Library through its campus network and Remote Login facility facilitates to provide access to huge data base collection of subscribed online resources. The users can access e-Resources and large collection of print resources, while Web-OPAC will facilitate the users to search and explore the availability of holdings of Library from any place of their convenience 24x7.

Other e-Content and useful links : Nearly 42 e-journals of ICAR open access journals are compiled and made available to all users for their academic pursuits and alsoprovided list of some Agricultural Websites which provides latest information.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

Library Automation : Circulation activities of the library had been automated using " KOHA Integrated Library Management System” developed for all libraries. Necessary equipment for automation of the library viz., computers, printer, scanner, barcode label printer and barcode readers etc., had been procured under ICAR funds.

PGS-501 Library Services Course : Conducts Non-Credit compulsory course on Library and Information Services(PGS-501)for the M.Sc. and Ph.D. Students. The main objective of the course is to educate the users on library resources, its access, formats of information resources, online resources, hands on training on e-resources and collection of literature etc.

Orientation Programme : The Orientation Programmes on the library system, rules and regulations, library facilities and servicesof library, etc., are being conducted every year to newly admitted U.G., M.Sc., and Ph.D students.

Awareness Programmes on e-Resources : The University Library is regularly conducting training cum and awareness programmes on e-Resources and on accessing online information resources viz., CeRA, KrishiKosh, Statistical Databases, e-Books, e-Journals, etc. for the benefit of Scientists, Teachers, Extension Specialists and Students.
