Brief Profile of Dr. G. Chitti Babu


Notable contributions :

Conducted 30 Onfarm trials on Cost reduction technologies in Cotton, Rice, Groundnut, Maize and other important crops and also conducted 32 On farm trials on IPM technologies and pest management practices.

As Scientist Crop Protection, promoted the Integrated Pest Management measures in Rice, Cotton, Maize, Groundnut, Pulses and other crops.

Specifically promoted the Stem application technique in cotton, Sticky traps against sucking pests and pheromone traps for the mass trapping of insects in Paddy, Maize and Groundnut.

Conducted several minikit demonstrations and recorded observations while working at DAATT Centres and given feedback on performance of these minikits to the concerned Principal Scientists.

Conducted and also participated in 280 training programmes and educated the farmers on low cost technologies, INM and IPM Measures, Use of Bio-control measures in different cropsetc.

Also conducted method demonstrations on several technologies developed through ANGRAU.

Conducted skill development programmes like Maintenance of Plant protection equipment, Spraying methods and precautions, Friends of Coconut trees, Bee keeping etc while working in KVK.

Participated in several Govt. programmes like Rythu Chaitanya yatralu, Rythu Sadassulu, Polam pilustundi, Chandra rythu kshetralu, ATMA Workshops regularly and given necessary agro advisories and promoted technologies developed by ANGRAU.

Participated in several training programmes proposed by ANGRAU and updating the skills and knowledge at regular intervals

Developed 6 phamplets, 8 booklets and 5 brouchers on pest and disease management practices, drum seeder cultivation approaches, direct seeding practices, diagnostic bulletin, BPH Management measures etc.

Developed information centre at DAATTCs (Adilabad, Srikakulam and Paderu), KVK, Srikakulam and prepared several posters, banners and information material on Cost reduction techniques, soil testing measures, nutrient management, pest and disease identification symptoms and control measures etc.

Developed master trainers on Drum seeder technology, direct sowing of rice with Ferti cum seed drill, stem application in cotton, line sowing of groundnut, sweet corn cultivation, zero tillage maize.

Regularly conducting and participating in the diagnostic surveys and giving suggestions timely to the farmers.

Regularly disseminating the information on cultivation practices, pest and disease management systems through print and electronic media.

Actively participated in the Kisanmela, ZREAC, Rythu Sadassu, Farmers Scientist interactions, Exhibitions, Exposure visits etc.

Conducted RAWEP Programme for five batches in collaboration with Agricultural College, Polasa, Jagtial and Agricultural College, Naira, Srikakulam.

Associated with several NGOs in Srikakulam district and helped in formation FPOs
