Expertise in designing and execution of experiments of Crop Physiology, Seed Physiology, Seed Science & Technology, preparation of course curriculum of Seed Physiology of Under graduate, Post graduate and PhD with teaching. Administrative experience in students’ academic matters, extracurricular activities and placements at Dean of Student Affairs, ANGRAU. Developed online academic content delivery mechanisms for uncertain and pandemic situations which are being emulated by several SAUs and ICAR institutions.
Notable contributions :
The ANGRAU is the largest agricultural University in the country.
Truly excellent and top class infrastructure facilities in hostels, placement cells, sports and games, curricular and co-curricular activities etc., were developed for students of B.Sc., (Hons.) Agriculture, B. Tech., (Ag. Engg.) B.Tech., (FST) B.Sc., (Hons.) Community Science, M.Sc., (Ag), M. Tech (Agril. Engg), M.Sc (Community Science), Ph.D (Ag), Ph.D (Agril. Engg and Tech), Ph. D (Community Science), Diploma (Agriculture) Diploma (Seed Technology), Diploma (Agri. Engg.) Diploma (Organic Farming).
Every year nearly 6000 students join these programmes in ANGRAU. At any given time, in all nearly 18, 000 students of all academic years stay on campus.
I provided, supervised and monitored these facilities tirelessly and got name and fame to the University as Dean of Students Affairs.
Administrative Experience
The major areas of administration include Nodal Officer (Bifurcation); Dean of Student Affairs; Director (International Programme) i/c; Professor & Head: Dept. Of Crop Physiology; Principal Investigator; Co Principal Investigator; Co Nodal officer (DUS Project) and Coordinator –Training Programmes.
The priorities have always been the need and urgency of building high quality human resources and future directions to meet the challenges of food security and agricultural based rural development.
Special emphasis has always been given to basic structural and policy changes as per the needs of all stake holders of the University.
Every year over 6000 newly admitted students; all staff (teaching, non- teaching and supporting staff) are being benefited through administrative reforms.
Professional recognition :
A. Research:
The pioneering works on molecular and electrophoretic techniques for genetic purity and variety identification, drought tolerant studies, seed quality and vigour enhancement in groundnut, pulses and oil seed crops have been recognised at State, National and International Levels.
These works are helping in generating income to the tune of over Rs. 100 crores in this field.
The packaging material (vapour proof containers) for short lived crops, vegetable seeds (onion, tomato, bhendi etc. and oil seed crops are saving over Rs.125 crores worth agricultural produce and indirectly helping food security.
Identified DUS characterization in maize and green gram is guiding immensely in development of commercial varieties of these crops.
The identified suitable places for quality seed production in Andhra Pradesh is helping over 11 seed companies of high repute and proving employment to over 2000 technical staff.
B. Teaching:
In Crop Physiology, Seed Science and Technology unique and versatile course contents and study material was developed.
This academic material developed is being maintained and delivered by the university to over 1500 newly recruited students into different academic programmes every year.
This material formed basis for introduction of a Diploma programme on “Seed Technology” in the University, which is being acclaimed as the outstanding work.
C. Extension:
In preparing yearly programmes and budget needs for education of cultivators, and non- students in connection with extension schemes in the university the above works formed basis in Crop Physiology and Seed Science and Technology.
The contents of the material developed is being used in over 250 off campus programmes, various forms of extension education and in preparation of informational materials such as publications, films etc.
