Brief Profile of Dr. G. Ramachandra Rao

Expertise in one line: Insect pest management by addressing insecticide resistance in insects through the use of botanical pesticides And Storage Entomology.

Notable contributions :

Have 16 years of long teaching experience, 2 years in research and 4.5 years in extension services.

Guided 17 M.Sc. (Ag) students as the Major Advisor and served as a member of the Advisory Committee for 28 students in Entomology, along with 3 M.Sc. (Ag) students in Environmental Sciences. For Ph.D. students, guided one as the Major Advisor and served as a member of the Advisory Committee for seven students.

Taught various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Entomology and postgraduate courses in Environmental Sciences.

Established a Controlled/Modified Atmospheric Storage laboratory at PHTC as Senior Scientist, contributing significantly to research capabilities.

Served satisfactorily as Senior Scientist (Crop Protection) and Coordinator at DAATTC, Guntur, providing valuable extension services to the local farming community.

Led the Institutional Development Plan (IDP) cell as the local nodal officer at Agricultural College, Bapatla from 2020-22 focusing on cultivating a rich human capital of highly qualified, motivated, skilled, and well-trained agricultural graduates.

As an NCC Officer at Agricultural College, Bapatla for 12 years, instrumental in helping students obtain B and C certificates, enhancing their prospects for securing jobs in banking.

Received the “State Best Teacher Award” in 2019

Awarded the “Dr. I.V. Subbarao Rithunestham Puraskaram” as Best Extension Scientist in 2016, bestowed by Hon’ble Sri Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister, GOI, and Sri T. Harish Rao, Major Irrigation Minister, Government of Telangana, on September 11, 2016.

Received the “Ugadi Puraskaram” from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for being the Best Extension Scientist in 2016.

Received an “Appreciation Certificate” from the District Administration of Guntur for meritorious services to the farming community during 2012-13, presented by Honorable Agriculture Minister Sri Lakshmi Narayana during the 67th Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2013.
